Facts about the Commission

The Goshen Recreation and Parks Commission is a public body established by the Town and Village of Goshen.  The sources of operating funds are program fees, facility rental, and annual appropriations of equal amounts from the Town and Village of Goshen.

Meetings:

The Commission meets once a month, on the second Tuesday, at 6:30 pm at Village Hall.  The meetings are open to the public.  There is a “Public Input” period soon after the start of every meeting.

Commissioners:

There are seven volunteer Commissioners who are appointed as follows:

Two (2) Town residents appointed by the Town Board

The five appointed Commissioners serve staggered three-year terms.  An annual organization meeting is held each year (June) at which Commissioners elect a Chairperson, and the new Chairperson selects a Vice-Chairperson.  At that meeting, the new Chairperson also assigns responsibility for the oversight of specific parks, programs and projects to each Commissioner.
